What is it with this tiny country of ultra-practical people, that just seem to keep churning out the creatives. Denmark is known for its furniture designs, and yes, its fashion; austerity brought to the level of high art. The incredibly talented new Danish Designer, Atifa Rasooli, definitely fits the bill; her designs are somber and as quiet as a winter’s day in Denmark.
The silhouttes are reminiscent of Japanese warriors, but in a strikingly modern and unintended sexiness. The use of silks, mat wool and cotton, add to the collection’s textured variety, while the palette of black, grey and white create a moody stillness. According to Rasooli, “Everything imaginable and unimaginable is created from stillness. Stillness is where all creations begin. I am the messenger of stillness. Bringing back the strength of humble appearance with hidden nobility.”
