Abu Dhabi — Cool

ABU DHABI : The new cool

KA is always looking into what the best is and what is up and coming… now, we happened to learn about the plans that are being formulated to create one of the most expensive cities ever made : Abu Dhabi.

This project will make Dubai look like a small Theme Park…no seriously. Dubai is only a step up to what will be the reality in Abu Dhabi in 2030.

We can talk a lot, but images speak volumes. Watch and be inspired.

Abu Dhabi’s Dolphin Energy says work on the cross-country gas pipeline from Qatar to the east coast of the United Arab Emirates is scheduled to be complete by the third quarter of 2010.
Part of the UAE capital’s Plan Abu Dhabi 2030, the new connection will pump gas from Qatar to Taweelah, where it will then be piped to ADWEA’s Qidfa Water and Electricity Station, which is currently under construction.

The first phase of the light-rail tram (LRT) system, which will serve areas within Abu Dhabi city and areas close to the metro, will be operational by 2014.

The first phase of the metro will be 42.5 kilometres long and it will be ready to operate by 2015.

The Abu Dhabi master transport plan 2030 includes 580 kilometers of High Speed Railway Lines, 340 kilometers of LRT system and 130 kilometers of metro system.

Etihad Towers

The development comprises five towers ranging from 49 to 76 stories above a five-level podium with a built-up area of 519,000 square metres. Construction is expected to be completed december 2010.

Al Raha Beach

Aldar Properties is creating its beachfront development along the Abu Dhabi-Dubai highway. Al Raha Beach Development is a project covering an area of 12 million sqm. Accommodating 120,000 residents, the project will be divided into eight residential and commercial districts, each with a special theme.

Yas Island

Also developed by Aldar, the Yas Island covers an area of 6,000 acres – almost one third of the size of Abu Dhabi Island. Designed to boost Abu Dhabi’s tourism industry, the $40bn project will host the Ferrari theme park, a world-class motor sports racetrack, and a retail space of 356,000msq.

The theme park, five-star and boutique hotels, a water park, links golf course, three marinas, restaurants, various entertainment facilities and luxurious residential property will also be key attractions on the island.

Khalifa City expansion

Abu Dhabi Municipality has announced another enormous development in May that will expand Khalifa City and its community of 5,000 villas. This also comes in line with Plan Abu Dhabi 2030 and will divide the city into two districts – A and B.
