Each day, children from very poor regions of the Himalayas such as Tibet, Nepal and Bhutan are faced with unbearable living conditions and as a result, it is common for parents to part with their children by sending them to monasteries in South India, with the hope that they will find the path to a better life and have access to basic education. Tragically, some of these children die while making the dangerous journey through the Himalayas. Those who survive must travel by foot with barely any food and nothing more than the clothes they are wearing. This humanitarian effort will save lives while giving hope to hundreds of children and young people.
